Meet Serene
I’m a scientist and physician by education and training.
I’m a holistic health practitioner, shaped and defined by personal experience, education, observations and evidence based beliefs.
In 2014 I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, and it felt like my world was crumbling around me.
I went to bed every night guessing how will I feel next day since. Will I be able to get out of bed, will I walk or limp will I be chearful or depressed.
Will I be able to climb the stairs erect or crawling on my hands and feet. Will my fingers fit in my kitchen gloves or will I need help washing my dishes.
I did my homework and I found one of the most highly regarded rheumatologists in New York City. Waited in pain to get to his busy office and earn the privilege of his precious time.
When he finally saw me, he started writing a prescription for the strongest medication on the market.
I politely questioned his approach asking, sir is that the first line of treatment?
His answer was, that is the treatment I recommend.
When I expressed my fear of cortisone’s complications, his answer was: Wait until your neck hurts enough and you will come to me and beg for it.
The answer of this doctor, who is considered one of the leaders in his field, humiliated and challenged me.
I decided to become the manager of my diagnosis. I started my journey by arming myself with everything I could learn about this condition.
I refused to limit my knowledge to the allopathic medicine that I was trained in, I extended my search and studies to functional medicine, Ayurveda, chinese herbs and holistic medicine.
I learned so much during my journey and got to know about wonderful people with similar past, like Terry Walsh, Eileen Laird and many more.
These courageous, strong women believed in themselves and their bodies’ abilities and they gave me hope which convinced me that I can be the maestro of the orchestra of my life.
I can support my body and supply it with all the required tools to allow it to heal.
I became a strong believer that; food, music, movements and managing stress are excellent tools to be added to conventional medicine for complete and continuing healing.
